I want to orgainse myself more in this new year and this includes setting some goals.
I’ve already put down my personal list in my journal so now’s the time for reading & blogging!
I’m keeping it concise so there will be 5 of each but I will also try really hard to keep true to them so feel free to hold me accountable!
And, of course, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
I. STAY ON TOP OF MY CHALLENGES & READATHONS
There’s some overlap between those and lots of the books I would read anyway but my track record with challenges has been so-so and I need to keep reminding myself to feel motivated not overwhelmed.
I’ll try my best and I shall succeed!
II. HIT 100 READ BOOKS AGAIN
In 2017 I hit 100 books on my reading challenge for the first time.
In 2018 I hit nearly 200.
In 2019 though… I had to lower my challenge to 90 with the final count of 94. It’s still quite a lot, I know and I’m not complaining.
But also I want to keep challenging myself. I will not obsess over it nor focus on the number only but I think 100 books is an optimal number I want to strive for to keep myself in the game, you know? I need some number to keep my eye out for.
III. READ MORE NON-FICTION
I love reading stories! They’re amazing!
But I also miss learning things.
In a year when I was retaking one term (only formally) I had no classes and since I defended my BA thesis I haven’t gone back to uni yet. I want to enroll this year but there’s a lot of time to October so I’ll have to tend to my yearning for knowledge on my own.
Let’s say, to make it easier to account for, one non-fiction book per month?
IV. MORE AUDIOBOOKS
In 2018 I started listening to audiobooks and I listened to A LOT of them that year.
But then 2019 came and I barely did that anymore?
This year I hope to change it. Right now I have a trial subscription to Storytell and we’ll see what after that but audiobooks are a part of my 2020 now and I’m not backing down from it.
V. DNF BOOKS INSTEAD OF PUSHING THROUGH
I realised that I spend too much time and energy on trying to finish things I don’t want to finish out of some sick sense of obligation and I keep sending myself into bookslumps.
In 2020 we move on from things we do not enjoy. I have spoken.
I. CARRY ON WITH MY TIPS & TRICKS SERIES
I think my Tips & Tricks were my biggest hit this year and, more importantly, I really enjoyed writing them!
So there will be more. If you have anything you would want me to learn and explain feel free to comment below ⬇️⬇️⬇️. Seriously. I love feeling like a mentor.
My next one will be about how I use Trello to plan my blogging and should be out this month!
II. WRITE MORE DISCUSSION POSTS
So, because of the various posts summing up 2019 I wrote — I realised I don’t have ANY discussion posts!
It can’t be!! ANY??!!
Anyway, I have one in my drafts now and I hope to have it done by February. Keep an eye out!
III. BE MORE CREATIVE & CREATE MORE ORIGINAL POSTS
It’s all fun and memes until you realise you treat half of your content as filler content.
I want to create more orginal pieces instead of just weekly memes and usual reviews because I want to show more of myself not just the pieces cut out to fit the prompt.
It’s cool to be a part of something so many bloggers do with you and it sparks conversations and bloghopping to see other people’s take but I feel like I’m trying to fit in and thus I don’t take it seriously in a way that matters.
In 2020 I want to focus more on creating content that MATTERS TO ME. Even if that means less posts and more work.
IV. ENGAGE WITH OTHER BLOGGERS MORE
I don’t bloghop as often as I would like to and I feel like I’m awkward and never know what to comment or how to word things…
I’m not the most social person but I want to put more effort into interaction this year.
It’s time to TALK.
NO HIDING BEHIND EXCUSES ANYMORE.
V. DO SOME COLABS WITH OTHER BLOGGERS
I was asked to do a colab recently so I think I will have one up in January but it’s something I never do but would love to so I hope 2020 will bring more opportunities!
I love group work and brainstorming ideas with other people so why have I never done this??
Probably something to do with the fact I would have to ASK other people first but ok
As I said, January is booked but if you too are yearning for the colab experience — hit me up and we can work something out for February or March??
- What do you think of my goals? You think I can manage that?
- What are YOUR 2020 goals?
