MADE ME CRY THE MOST

FANTASY || HISTORICAL || LGBTQ+

As the grandmaster who founded demonic cultivation, Wei WuXian roamed the world in his wanton ways, hated by millions for the chaos he created. In the end, he was backstabbed by his dearest shidi and killed by powerful clans that combined to overpower him.

He incarnates into the body of a lunatic who was abandoned by his clan and is later, unwillingly, taken away by a famous cultivator among the sects—Lan WangJi, his archenemy.

This marks the start of a thrilling yet hilarious journey of attacking monsters, solving mysteries, and raising children. From the mutual flirtation along the way, Wei WuXian slowly realizes that Lan WangJi, a seemingly haughty and indifferent poker-face, holds more feelings for Wei WuXian than he is letting on…

I was WAILING throughout most of this book!! Just WAILING!! Anyway, graet pinning. Broke my heart into tiny dust particles. Would cry again.

MADE ME LAUGH THE MOST

I don’t like books which don’t make me laugh at least a little so it’s hard to choose one.

Even the book which made me cry the most made me laugh so much I’m considering putting it here again!! It’s hard to choose?

BEST HEARTWARMING STORY

The Tea Dragon Festival by Katie O'Neillgoodreads-add-e1547065951898The Tea Dragon Festival by Katie O’Neill

FANTASY || GRAPHIC NOVEL || MG || LGBTQ+

Rinn has grown up with the Tea Dragons that inhabit their village, but stumbling across a real dragon turns out to be a different matter entirely! Aedhan is a young dragon who was appointed to protect the village but fell asleep in the forest eighty years ago. With the aid of Rinn’s adventuring uncle Erik and his partner Hesekiel, they investigate the mystery of his enchanted sleep, but Rinn’s real challenge is to help Aedhan come to terms with feeling that he cannot get back the time he has lost.

I fell in love with the Tea Dragons whlie reading the first part of this series The Tea Dragon Society and I’m still not over that concept! It’s just so warm and so casually queer! I wouldn’t mind taking my vacation in this world — just drinking some good tea infused with soft memories and picking up mushrooms!!

BEST SMUT

Sunstone, Vol. 1 by Stjepan Šejićgoodreads-add-e1547065951898Sunstone by Stjepan Šejić

GRAPHIC NOVEL || ROMANCE || EROTICA || LGBTQ+

«Sexual nerds. That is what BDSM people are, behind all the pretense…»

Lisa’s tastes were always…unique. Longing to be restrained, without restrain. Lisa always felt like something was missing from her love life─until she met Ally. Ally was implacably ordinary─successful job, nice house, an average childhood─except for her preference for bedroom domination.

I had some doubts when I found this f/f erotica written by a man but it’s one of the best — if not the best — erotica I’ve ever read. Or any smut really.

It’s sexy. It’s funny. The characters have both great chemistry and engaging personalities. I’ll definitely be carring on with this series in 2020.

36135552._SY475_goodreads-add-e1547065951898Riven by Roan Parish

ROMANCE || CONTEMPORARY || LGBTQ+

Theo Decker might be the lead singer of Riven, but he hates being a rock star. The paparazzi, the endless tours, being recognized everywhere he goes—it all makes him squirm. The only thing he doesn’t hate is the music. Feeling an audience’s energy as they lose themselves in Riven’s music is a rush unlike anything else . . . until he meets Caleb Blake Whitman. Caleb is rough and damaged, yet his fingers on his guitar are pure poetry. And his hands on Theo? They’re all he can think about. But Caleb’s no groupie—and one night with him won’t be enough.

Just when Caleb is accepting his new life as a loner, Theo Decker slinks into it and turns his world upside-down. Theo’s sexy and brilliant and addictively vulnerable, and all Caleb wants is another hit. And another. That’s how he knows Theo’s trouble. Caleb can’t even handle performing these days. How the hell is he going to survive an affair with a tabloid superstar? But after Caleb sees the man behind the rock star, he begins to wonder if Theo might be his chance at a future he thought he’d lost forever.

Maybe it’s because I was listening to an audiobook but the sex scenes in this novel just hit differently.

Again, sexy and funny. Honestly, I think that if not for the sex scenes I would rate it a full star lower?

BEST REREAD

43289134goodreads-add-e1547065951898The Brilliant Death by Amy Rose Capetta

FANTASY || YA || LGBTQ+

For Teodora DiSangro, a mafia don’s daughter, family is fate.

All her life, Teodora has hidden the fact that she secretly turns her family’s enemies into music boxes, mirrors, and other decorative objects. After all, everyone in Vinalia knows that stregas—wielders of magic—are figures out of fairytales. Nobody believes they’re real.

Then the Capo, the land’s new ruler, sends poisoned letters to the heads of the Five Families that have long controlled Vinalia. Four lie dead and Teo’s beloved father is gravely ill. To save him, Teo must travel to the capital as a DiSangro son—not merely disguised as a boy, but transformed into one.

Enter Cielo, a strega who can switch back and forth between male and female as effortlessly as turning a page in a book. Teo and Cielo journey together to the capital, and Teo struggles to master her powers and to keep her growing feelings for Cielo locked in her heart. As she falls in love with witty, irascible Cielo, Teo realizes how much of life she’s missed by hiding her true nature. But she can’t forget her mission, and the closer they get to the palace, the more sinister secrets they uncover about what’s really going on in their beloved country—and the more determined Teo becomes to save her family at any cost.

GENDERFLUID SHAPESHIFTING WITCHES. Yes, I missed that one and I am ready for the sequel this year!!

BEST SEQUEL

42099222. sy475 goodreads-add-e1547065951898Conduit by K.F. Bradshaw

FANTASY || YA || LGBTQ+

Andrea is living the life she’s always dreamed of. Damea’s magic has been restored, she’s been appointed Royal Enchanter of Gurdinfield, and best of all, she and Cassie are finally together.

But their perfect life in the City of Towers cannot last forever. Andrea and Cassie must journey to the neighboring Azgadaran Empire, a land struggling to adjust to the return of magic, to help secure a precarious alliance between old enemies. Soon Andrea will come to wonder if bringing magic back to Damea had greater consequences than she thought…ones she may not be prepared to face.

I’ve been for this series since the beginning. I got the ARC through the Sapphic Book Club and the review of the 1st part was one of my first, actually.

But it’s not only the sentiment — this sequel really shows Bradshaw’s progress as a writer and had me SCREAMING!!

BEST ARC

41951626._SY475_goodreads-add-e1547065951898Crier’s War by Nina Varela

FANTASY || YA || LGBTQ+

After the War of Kinds ravaged the kingdom of Rabu, the Automae, designed to be the playthings of royals, usurped their owners’ estates and bent the human race to their will.

Now Ayla, a human servant rising in the ranks at the House of the Sovereign, dreams of avenging her family’s death…by killing the sovereign’s daughter, Lady Crier.

Crier was Made to be beautiful, flawless, and to carry on her father’s legacy. But that was before her betrothal to the enigmatic Scyre Kinok, before she discovered her father isn’t the benevolent king she once admired, and most importantly, before she met Ayla.

Now, with growing human unrest across the land, pressures from a foreign queen, and an evil new leader on the rise, Crier and Ayla find there may be only one path to love: war.

This is a sapphic book I wanted for YEARS!!! Just!!! Years!!
